The family-friendly event features a unique indoor carpeted skating rink, and activities such as making fake polymer snow and watching fruitcake explosions. Families can explore the entire Great Lakes Science Center during the event. Also, two OMNIMAX® movies are included in the price of admission. Walleye Madness at Midnight at Port Clinton – Dec. 31, 6pm-12am
Ring in the coming New Year in Port Clinton with a 20-foot, 600-pound fiberglass walleye at the “Madness at Midnight” Walleye Drop. Located 80 miles outside of Cleveland, the town of Port Clinton is home to a hearty population of walleye from Lake Erie waters nearby. To celebrate, the town uses a massive crane to lower a fiberglass walleye replica, approximately 30 times larger than the average walleye, at the stroke of midnight. Enjoy locally prepared specialties such as walleye chowder, walleye sandwiches, walleye cinnamon chips, and walleye popcorn. Mon Ami, a local winery, has even created a “Walleye White” wine to honor the city’s walleye reputation.
