11/29-12/1– The Rink at Wade Oval: Opening Weekend, Wade Oval Park, University Circle Neighborhood
Your shopping mission has been accomplished. Without starting one fight you got that toaster for $2 and that television at 80 percent off. Why not reward yourself with a calm outing of ice skating at The Rink at Wade Oval, one of Cleveland’s only outdoor ice skating rinks? The Rink at Wade Oval opens Thanksgiving weekend and runs through March 17th, free of charge(skate rental is $3 or you can bring your own). Whether you can barely stand up or you do triple axles in your spare time, The Rink at Wade Oval is the perfect complement to all the holiday events in University Circle. On Wednesdays throughout December, The Rink at Wade Oval will feature outdoor concerts, movie nights and even Skate with Santa.
11/30: Winterfest – Public Square, Downtown Cleveland
The Saturday following Turkey Day, Huntington Bank and Downtown Cleveland Alliance present Winterfest in Downtown’s Public Square. What better way to end November and kick off December than with a day of free holiday entertainment and activities. Activities include free tours of downtown on horse-drawn carriages, food trucks, Radio Disney concerts, The Holiday Pop-Up Shop, a holiday lighting ceremony, outdoor holiday movie showings, a majestic firework display and, afterwards, a public after party with Santa at the Tri-C Hospitality Management Center. While the kids are hanging out with Santa why not stop by the Wine and Ale fest, for a locally crafted beer or a glass of wine. This holiday extravaganza has something for everyone. Bundle up the kids and bring them down to Public Square for some fantastic holiday fun.
12/01: Cleveland Pops Annual Holiday Concert – Palace Theater, Playhouse Square
The Cleveland Pops Orchestra’s Annual Holiday Concert is a joyous showing of holiday cheer and beautiful performances. Come and see the orchestra perform beautiful arrangements of some of your favorite songs. Folks of all ages will enjoy this performance as it ignites the spark of excitement for the weeks of holiday music to come.
Also Nov. 29 and 30, don’t miss the A Christmas Story 30th Anniversary and Convention at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel and A Christmas Story House and Museum in the Tremont neighborhood. With a variety of activities it will be the perfect way to celebrate the 30th birthday of the classic holiday movie.
