This Weekend in Cleveland: June 22-23, 2013

This weekend, rock out on the front porch with some of Northeast Ohio’s finest local musicians at the Larchmere PorchFest. Then, head over to the Ohio Scottish Games + Festival of the Arts at the Lorain County Fairgrounds to celebrate Scottish heritage with athletic competitions, folk music, dance and food. Finally, take in some behind-the-scenes superhero history with the iconic “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Superman Celebration” exhibit held at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.

Larchmere PorchFest – Larchmere, Shaker Heights

This Saturday, get your groove on at this unique music festival in the Larchmere neighborhood of Shaker Heights. Come hear more than 30 local musicians as they transform front porches around the area into stages and rock out. The Ohio Scottish Games highlight Scottish heritage through traditional music, dance, athletics and food. Based on the ancient Scottish Highland Games, this exciting event is filled with family-friendly activities ranging from all day musical entertainment to watching the many athletic competitions lined up throughout the weekend. It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Superman Celebration – Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, Beachwood

On Sunday, celebrate Superman’s 75th birthday by learning about how the man of steel was created here in Cleveland. Featuring exhibits on the history of Superman’s creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, this exciting celebration also features a kids comic book workshop with cartoonist Teri Lobenson and a screening of Superman-themed films at 1pm.
