All Bets are On

When the frosts of late fall and the promise of snow arrive in Cleveland Plus, the harness racing action at Northfield Park is one place where things are guaranteed to be heating up. With more than a half-century of tradition behind it, the only remaining commercial harness track in the region still makes the place go crazy every 19 minutes.

“We’re one of the few tracks that are capable of running through the winter months,” notes Northfield vice president of marketing Bill Seese. “We actually run more in the winter than we do in the summer and we’ve only canceled two times in the last five years.”

Starting in November, you can catch adrenaline-rushing harness races live at Northfield five days a week, watching from the comfort of a totally-remodeled grandstand boasting more than 300 televisions and all-new seating. And simulcast viewing of races from around the country is available every day of the year except Christmas. More than 350 private carrels, each with their own television, are yours for the picking.

And don’t worry about grabbing dinner on the way or leaving the track early for a late fast-food meal. Northfield’s menu at Lady Luck’s restaurant is loaded with everything from soups and salads to sandwiches and steaks and pastas and desserts, with all-you-can-eat buffets on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hot dining, hotter racing: You don’t need a calendar to find them in the Northfield Park forecast. – Submitted by John Booth, guest blogger
